Animation

Aladdin has been through a lot of evolution throughout the years, with different adaptations and retellings of the story.

The animation below explores this history through blending the different versions of "A whole new world" together, showing the change in visual styles as well as the different recording styles of the song.

Development

How was this animation made?

I took photographic stills from each of these whole new world sequences and in Photoshop carefully selected all the elements that I viewed as distinct foreground, midground and background elements, (trees, mountains, smoke).

I worked from foreground to background, deleting the element on the layer below and using Photoshop's clone tool to reconstruct what the element would look like behind.

This was done until all the elements were individualised.

Then, each of these layers were imported into Blender, each layer was stacked behind each other with space in-between, and duplicated and mirrored to create one long stretch of layer. These layers were then animated at different speeds, with the camera also moving for additional depth.
